CRITICAL REVIEW


          The sculptures’ figurative expression sustains a permanent effort of suiting the shape to a declared spiritual functionality. At a given moment, this kind of preoccupation leads it to the domination of spatial problems, when the sculptural ensemble is composed of geometrical elements, materializations of the rational processes. Then, the artist returns with a narrative programme, in which the zest of the anecdote, the taste for commentary are based on broad cultural references, in a continuously renewed dialogue between the myth’s and reality’s serious and ridiculous / parodic dimensions. In this moment the anterior formal experiences are valued, in a manner in which characters are given an identity, without violently manifesting against the ambience and without obeying it, populating it with their own space in which the artistic discourse is spoken. The artist uses colour to enrich the expressiveness of volumes and, sometimes, as a resource of an innovating painting approach.
