Sculptor and restorer of historical monuments, Gabriel Calin Popian belongs to the generation of sculptors trained in the ‘80s that chose the path of the exile, being currently established in the United States of America. He made a career out of restoring, but he continued his activity as a sculptor even after the departure from Romania. He realized numerous reliefs religiously themed and, generally, his art used that rich source of inspiration. He worked in bronze, wood and stone, remaining at the same time, attached to tradition, but receiving the unavoidable influences from the new world.
