CRITICAL REVIEW

The characters in his sculptures constitute materializations of the physical and spiritual being confronted with fundamental existential issues. There are instances of the tendency to detach from the redundant inertia of daily experience. As a result of this effort, the face of a voivode - Basarab I - is marked by asceticism, in which it becomes clear his strength as a maker of history and spirituality. In other compositions, the characters, undergoing the same eroding process of the world and of the inner struggle, are presented in unpredictable attitudes, with a tireless action upon the space in which they evolve. The figures detached from an archaic background attach to themselves levels of surrealism, as the result of some remarkable fabulous resources.
