A sculptress from Buzau, belonging to the golden generation that made possible the existence of the legendary creative camp from Magura Buzaului, Rodica Panaitescu expresses herself figuratively and symbolically through her three dimensional compositions, created either by modelling (terracotta), or through the ones shaped using the carving technique (mahogany and other essences, stone). As in the case of other artists of her generation, Rodica Panaitescu developed during her acknowledged and appreciated activity a few stylistic directions and she approached with equal interest themes either drawn from the transient human existence, or from nature which she knows how to lucidly contemplate and from which she masters how to extract subtle essences. The artist constantly experiments, especially in her workshop creations, with an inspired and suggestive game between solid and ethereal forms, momentary recalls.
