CRITICAL REVIEW

Gorzo’s hyper-realism is fantastic and symbolical. In order to potentiate the identity of a space which not so long ago refused the future, and even the present, stubbornly wanting to remain unaltered in its archaicity, the artist chose the aggressive contrasts and a representation where the real is completely unravelled.  And because the real in Gorzo’s painting-object isn’t the real real anymore, but an interpreted real, it automatically becomes symbolic. It is also fantastic because his characters are so realistically configured but all projected into the fabulous, next to the zoo-anthropomorphic beings of a personal bestiary coming, undoubtedly from the Morosan mythology of the Ieudens.
